A Journey of Faith, Family, & Fresh Starts

Lopez Lawnz was born from a deeply personal mission—a fight for health, purpose, and community. In October 2023, after reaching 193 kg and battling numerous health issues, our founder made a life-changing decision. Struggling with gym routines and diets that never stuck, he turned to something simple but powerful—cutting overgrown lawns.

What started as a way to lose weight soon became something much bigger. With family by his side and faith in God, Lopez began mowing lawns across South Auckland, serving the community while sharing his progress online under the name “Boy_Local.” In just 18 months, over 31 kg was lost, and more than 150 lawns—many severely overgrown—were transformed. All done with love, grit, and a lawnmower.

At Lopez Lawnz, we believe that care starts at the ground level—literally. Whether it’s a small backyard or a community garden, maintaining green spaces brings more than beauty; it brings healing, pride, and a sense of purpose.

At Lopez Lawnz, our values are rooted in service, compassion, and community empowerment. We believe in accessibility, offering free lawn care through our Green4Free initiative to support low-income families, elderly residents, and local groups in need. We value health and well-being, especially in Pacific Island communities, where we advocate for physical activity and outdoor upkeep to combat the effects of poverty and obesity. Sustainability is key to our mission—we rely on donations, sponsorships, and social media revenue to continue offering free services and building community strength. We also uphold the value of opportunity, creating jobs and training pathways for youth and unemployed individuals.

Guided by Christian values, we exist to ease the burden of yard maintenance for families in need, create employment opportunities, and foster health-focused change across South Auckland and beyond. Through initiatives like Green4Free, our mission is to grow not just grass, but hope, dignity, and community spirit.
